Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage will join service personnel from her constituency as she gives her support to the London Poppy Day campaign, collecting donations at a London railway station.
This year, London Poppy Day is taking place on Thursday 29th October when thousands of uniformed personnel and volunteers will hit mainline and tube stations across the capital, selling poppies and raising money for the Royal British Legion. Caroline is set to join forces with personnel from HMS Sultan at London Bridge station and contribute to the attempt to exceed the £1 million fundraising target.
Speaking ahead of London Poppy Day, Caroline said:
"As MP for a constituency with very close links to our Armed Forces, I know only too well how important the support provided by the Royal British Legion is to serving personnel, veterans and their families. The money raised by the sale of the emblematic red poppy is crucial to ensuring that the Legion is able to reach individuals and families across the country which is why I am thrilled to be contributing to the fundraising efforts next week.
However, this campaign isn't only about raising money – it is also about raising awareness of the sacrifices made by the men and women who serve or have served in our Armed Forces."
