Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage joined local lady Carol White as she was named a Heat Hero by fuel poverty charity National Energy Action (NEA) during an event in Parliament last week.
The Heat Hero Award Scheme recognises individuals across England and Wales who have gone above and beyond in helping people in their community who are struggling to keep their homes warm.
Ms White has worked at Gosport Borough Council for a number of years, going the extra mile to ensure that all people have access to funding and Government schemes to help them heat their homes. She worked on the 'Help is on Hand – Warm & Well' project, working closely with partner organisations to identify and safeguard vulnerable people living in fuel poverty.
Speaking after the event, Caroline said:
"I am so proud that we have individuals such as Carol working hard to support vulnerable people living in our community and I was delighted to see her receive her award.
For many people the cost of heating bills is a real worry and so people like Carol can make a real difference."
Carol was one of eleven winners who gained recognition for their work across England and Wales.
