Following the tragic death of two local young women who were run down by a dangerous driver, I joined the campaign to deliver proper justice for the victims of criminal driving and their family.
Having met with the Secretary of State for Justice and Attorney General and spoken in Parliamentary debates to call for a more robust punishment for offenders, I am pleased that progress is being made. The Government has requested that the maximum sentence for this offence be reviewed and changed the law so that someone convicted of dangerous driving will now serve their driving ban upon release – rather than concurrent with their prison sentence. If re-elected I will continue to fight to see proper justice for the victims of this crime.
