Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage yesterday visited Siskin Junior School to talk to Year 6 pupils about democracy.
During her visit, Caroline was given a tour of the school which was recently federated and met the acting head teacher who told Caroline about the terrific progress the school is making. Caroline then led a democracy class with Year 6 and set up a House of Commons style debate on whether the voting age should be lowered from 18.
Caroline commented:
"It is always a pleasure to visit local schools and I was particularly pleased to meet the delightful staff and pupils at Siskin, a school which is a real success story here in Hampshire.
Our democracy session certainly helped teach Year 6 about the value of hearing a debate before casting a vote."
Since her election, Caroline has visited all 41 schools in her constituency and frequently welcomes school groups to Westminster for tours of Parliament.
