Member of Parliament for Gosport, Dame Caroline Dinenage, is urging constituents to take up offers of vaccination against flu and COVID-19 and to keep their appointments.
As we enter the winter season, cases of COVID and seasonal flu increase. The NHS is ramping up its vaccination efforts against both diseases to protect the vulnerable.
Currently, the COVID booster vaccine is open to anyone over 50, at high risk from COVID and frontline health and care workers.
Dame Caroline recently volunteered at a vaccine clinic in her constituency, which provides flu and COVID vaccinations.
She said:
“This winter, getting vaccinated is crucial to keeping COVID cases low, and to reduce the impact of the seasonal flu.
Both viruses can be deadly to vulnerable groups of people, and we need to do everything that we can to keep safe.
Whilst volunteering at the vaccine clinic, over 16 people missed their appointment in the morning alone. This is depriving other vulnerable people the opportunity to get vaccinated and protected against COVID and the flu.
My message to constituents is, when you get the offer, get vaccinated. And if you can’t make the appointment, cancel it so that others can get the protection they need this winter.”
