Dame Caroline Dinenage, MP for Gosport, has accepted a position as Parliamentary Patron of the Conservative Mental Health Group (CMHG).
The CMHG is an independent group of Conservative Party activists that aim to tackle the causes and impact of mental illness. They work to ensure effective policies on mental health, creating a platform for Conservative Party members to meet and campaign on a shared vision of improved mental health outcomes. In the role, Caroline and the CMHG will engage with the wider public and party membership through social media, attending events and writing articles, offering new perspectives on tackling mental health problems.
Commenting, Dame Caroline said:
“I look forward to working closely with the Conservative Mental Health Group closely to offer new perspectives on mental health policy, and to improve awareness about its impacts and causes.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health awareness is at an all time high, and I think it’s the right time to capitalise on this to make a lasting improvement to mental health services. This will help to combat its detrimental effect on individuals and improve quality of life. Working with the CMHG will help to develop new ideas, and promote awareness.”
